Who can use this service

NHS Pharmacy First Scotland is available to anyone registered with a GP practice in Scotland, or anyone who lives in Scotland.

You do not have to be registered with a GP in the Inverness area to use the service at Livingstone Pharmacy — anyone living in Scotland is eligible.

How it works

  1. Walk in during our opening hours. No appointment is needed, although you may need to wait during our busy periods.
  2. Speak with our trained pharmacy team at the counter, or ask to use our private consultation room if you would prefer privacy.
  3. You will be asked for your name, date of birth, and postcode — this lets us record the consultation on the NHS system. No ID or referral is required.
  4. Our pharmacy team will assess your condition and, where appropriate, supply an NHS-provided medicine, give advice, or help you take the next step (for example, by contacting your GP or referring you on to an appropriate healthcare professional).

Cost

NHS Pharmacy First Scotland is a free NHS service. Medicines supplied under the service on the NHS are free to you. If you ask for a specific medicine that we cannot provide on the NHS, you may need to buy it over-the-counter.
